Over recent years there have been number of changes to the attainment grades that students are given.
In particular, students no longer receive National Curriculum levels during key stage 3 and from 2018 all GCSEs subjects will use the new 1-9 grading system.
A grade 4 in the new grading system is equivalent to a C grade in the previous GCSE grading system; a grade 7 is equivalent to an A grade.
When we report the progress your child is making at Smithdon High School, we will use the new grading system; for every student from Year 7 to Year 11 we will report the current attainment against the target we have set.
The targets we set are based on how well they performed at the end of primary school; because we want every child to excel, our targets are in line with the highest performing students nationwide.
