Smithdon High School

Governor Information

Welcome to the Governors’ page. Here you will find out about the current composition and working of the Local Governing Body, its role and how it supports the school on a day-to-day basis.

The LGB has been re-constituted following the school joining the West Norfolk Academies Trust.

The current Acting Chairman is Mr R Lodge.  Governors meet six times a year.

The Governing Body has a strategic role in setting aims and objectives, agreeing targets, policies and priorities and monitoring effectiveness.  It also evaluates the school’s performance through results and data, outside agency reports and the School Development Plan.

The range of skill, experience and expertise among the Governors is considerable and this enables the Governing Body to support the school across many areas and in various ways.

Governors attend all major school events, such as the Prize Presentation Evening and School Productions.

The governors are an enthusiastic and dedicated group who enjoy the school’s successes and progress. However, they take the role of ‘critical friend’ very seriously and challenge the school's Senior Leaders on issues of performance and effectiveness. Governors achieve the very best possible for the school.
